Prominent doctor sued for maintenance

A prominent doctor Mathias Mukona is being sued for maintenance by his wife Doreen who is claiming $2 000 per month for the upkeep of their three children.
Dr Mukona, who works at Sekuru Kaguvi Eye Hospital at Parirenyatwa Hospital, is being accused of neglecting their children Rutendo (11), Anotida (9) and Kuzivakwashe (6).
In her application filed at the Harare Civil Court on Wednesday, Doreen said she married to Dr Mukona on February 21, 2005 and the marriage still subsists.
"From July 2011 when the respondent left our matrimonial home to live with another woman, he stopped adequately providing for me and the three minor children," reads part of Doreen's application.
She said Dr Mukona's contribution had not only become erratic, but drastically much less compared to the levels before.
"He now only provides accommodation through an official residence, pays school and creache fees and provides transport to and from school and creache," Doreen said.
She indicated that Dr Mukona was earning enough money to contribute $2 000 per month for their three minor children.
The matter will be heard in court on Monday.
