The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe executive director Rosemary Siyachitema has said consumers should not rush to buy fuel from any filling station but shop around for those with low price tags.
Siyachitema said people should take advantage of the current fuel price.
"We are bound to be affected if fuel prices continue on an upward trend. As consumers, we are vulnerable to shocks and we acknowledge that our country is a landlocked and we depend on other countries for fuel. Apart from telling people to prepare or to expect an increase, People should shop around for fuel and take advantage as currently some fuel retailers have reduced prices following the government directive," Siyachitema is quoted saying by NewsDay.
In January, government ordered all fuel dealers to reduce fuel prices by at least 20 cents following a massive 60% drop in the prices of oil on the international market.
The price of crude oil on the international market has been on a free-fall since June last year from around $118 to about $45 per barrel.
She, however said despite the introduction of the 10% VAT for fuel imports, prices have remained stable.
