"Government has decided to suspend bonus payments for the civil servants in 2015 and 2016, and the situation will be reviewed in 2017 in the event that we are able to build enough capacity," Chinamasa said.
The suspension has not gone down well with civil servants representatives groups
"The Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (RTUZ) condemns the raft of criminal measures being made by the Finance ministry targeted at the civil service.
"The suspension of bonuses and impending retrenchments are criminal acts that we will defiantly resist. It is common knowledge that civil servants are earning salaries well below poverty datum line, suspending bonuses is ample evidence of how ungrateful our employer is," said RTUZ president, Obert Masaraure.
Masaraue added that government workers deserve the 123th cheque saying they are hard worker.
‘We are and we will always work hard for our country but we deserve better working conditions.
"We deserve bonuses for the hard work we do under difficult conditions. (Patrick) Chinamasa must come up with polices that broaden our national fiscus and stop concentrating on sharing a very small national cake," he added.
