Chigwedere gets vote of no confidence

ZANU-PF Mashonaland East Province interim committee has passed a  vote of no confidence in Acting Chairman Aenias Chigwedere, days after openly rebuked by party PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere.

Reports filtering through indicate that Chigwedere has been booted out and the Zanu-PF Mashonaland East province interim executive committee has recommended the expulsion of 5 other senior members of the party.

The interim executive recommended the expulsion of the following members from Zanu-PF, Ray Kaukonde, Simba Mudarikwa, Petronella Kagonye, Tendai Makunde and Olivia Muchena.

The executive also recommended that the following party members be given 5-year suspensions - Paddy Zhanda, Washington Musvaire, Phenias Chihota, Felix Mhona, Beater Nyamupinga, George Katsande, Lucky Kandemiri, Vernon Muringayi, John Mushayi, Peter Murwira, Marble Kavindikisa, Taurayi Pasirayi, Getrude Mariwo and Lillian Zemura.

The former Education minister and now headman replaced Ray Kaukonde late last year.

On Saturday Kasukuwere publicly chastised Aeneas Chigwedere accusing his executive of failing to hold regular meetings.

"Why are you not holding meetings? What is wrong? Go and hold a meeting on Monday (today) and I need the minutes on Thursday," Kasukuwere said.

Chigwedere's attack came as Zanu-PF secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo, on Friday disclosed that Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs minister Joel Biggie Matiza was also eyeing the provincial chairman's post.

Matiza is deputy to Chigwedere in the interim executive committee.
