The Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe on the occasion of Zimbabwe's 35th independence anniversary.
In his congratulatory statement, Mr Putin expressed confidence that the relationship between Zimbabwe and Russia will continue to develop for the benefit of the two countries nationals.
He further called for the alliance between the two nations to help in consolidating stability and security within the African continent.
Russia as one of the countries with the power of veto in the United Nations Security Council has helped Zimbabwe through thick and thin by refusing the illegal imposition of sanctions and unnecessary actions instigated by Britain and her allies to be imposed on Zimbabwe.
Russia has also assisted Zimbabwe immensely during the years of the liberation struggle and the bilateral friendship continues to grow each day with mega business deals signed recently while scores of Zimbabwean students have benefitted from Russian government scholarships.
