HAVING been incensed by his wife's refusal to have more children, a Mutare man opted for a forced surgical removal of his wife's contraceptive implant using a razor blade.

Rumbidzai Chigumegume told the court that she abandoned her husband after several terrifying acts to force her into having more children.

"Your Worship, I left home because my husband at one time woke up in the middle of the night and attempted to remove my contraceptive with a razor blade.

"He wants more children, but I told him that we could not have more as we are struggling to look after the three we have.

"The youngest is two years old and recently I had a miscarriage. Furthermore, we live in a single room with the three girls," she told the court.

Rumbidzai had approached the courts for a protection order against her husband.

She also told the court that her husband once visited her workplace threatening to stab her with a knife.

"Last week, he visited my workplace and threatened my employer. His actions resulted in me being fired from work," claimed Rumbidzai.

However, Joseph rubbished her claims saying his wife left home because she wanted to be a lady of the night.

"My wife left me because I discovered some used condoms in her purse when she had claimed that she was from her sister's place.

"I even confronted her in the presence of my in-laws and she claimed that his brother, Shadreck, had left them in her purse.

"Your Worship, if I may ask how the condoms ended up in her own purse. When I visited her workplace I wanted to warn her about several women who were visiting my place of residence threatening to assault her since they alleged that my wife was having extra-marital affairs with their husbands.

"I believe she now wants to fix me for revealing that she is of loose morals," argued Joseph.

Rumbidzai, however, refuted the claims and told the court that her husband was in the habit of cooking up stories to cover up his misdeeds.

She later told the court that she wanted him barred from visiting her place as well as disturbing her peace.

Mrs Yeukai Chigodora granted the application and barred Joseph from disturbing Rumbidzai's peace.

However, Joseph was allowed to visit Rumbidzai's place of residence when he wants to see children.
