Late Mujuru's remains airlifted to Sadza

The remains of the late Commander of Commanders, Retired General Solomon Mujuru, were this morning airlifted from Harare to his rural home in Sadza, Chikomba, to allow people in his home area to bid him farewell, ZBC News, reported on Friday morning.

The casket of the late military icon and strategist, General Solomon Mujuru,  were taken to his rural home aboard an Airforce of Zimbabwe helicopter.

Two other helicopters were availed to carry other dignitaries who included the late General's wife, Vice President,  Joice Mujuru, Minister of State Security, Dr. Sydney Sekeramayi, Zanu-PF Mashonaland East Provincial Chairman, Ray Kaukonde, Service Chiefs and other relatives.

They were seen off at One Commando barracks by Minister of Defence, Emmerson Mnangagwa and other senior government officials.

In an interview with ZBC News, Mnangagwa, who described the death of the late General Mujuru as a blow not only to the Mujuru family and Zanu-PF but to the nation as a whole, challenged the people especially the youths and Zanu-PF as a party,  to jealously guard the correct revolutionary lines as demonstrated by the by the late General.

Commander of the Defence Forces, General Constantine Chiwenga, also encouraged the people who attended the funeral parade on Thursday to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity in fulfillment of the late General's wishes against neo-colonialism.

From Sadza the remains of the late General will be flown to Marondera before returning to Harare on the same day.

Burial is at the National Heroes Acre on Saturday.
