MDC-T divided on by-elections

Morgan Tsvangirai's MDC-T has admitted fissures within the party's ranks over the resolution to boycott participation in the coming by-elections.
The party's Secretary General, Mr Douglas Mwonzora has singled out Bulawayo Province as the main discordant voice.
10 years after the split that broke the MDC's spine, reports from Bulawayo suggest the party is headed for yet another split.
A faction led by the party's Deputy President, Ms Thokozani Khuphe is allegedly angry at Mr Morgan Tsvangirai's decision not to participate in the June 10 by-elections.
Mr Mwonzora admits that Bulawayo indeed had reservations until last Saturday.
The MDC-T has however, taken up proportional representation seats on the basis they do not involve participating in elections.
An analyst, Alexander Kanengoni said such a decision smacks of hypocrisy.
The Senatorial elections in 2005 became the MDC's waterloo, resulting in a split, as former Secretary General, Professor Welshman Ncube and others walked out.
Another Secretary General, Mr Tendai Biti walked out again in 2014, resulting in the expulsion of legislators loyal to him from parliament.
Observers say it is just a matter of time before the temporarily silenced voices from Bulawayo realise they have been short-changed by the decision not to participate in the June 10 by-elections and ultimately walk out of the party again.
