ZINARA has come under fire over its failure to upgrade roads in many parts of the country despite the fact that the department was collecting toll fees from the motoring public every day and night.

Social commentators and motoring public lashed out at the department for the failure and challenged the government to see to it that the funds collected as toll fees is channeled to the rightful purpose.

Matilda Moyo asked as to what on earth is ZINARA doing with the toll fees money! "I Was stuck along Harare-Masvingo road after losing two tyres to potholes," she said.

"I was not the only one, motorist after motorist hit the same pothole the first time, changed to their spare tyres then hit the second one and limped to the safest spot." She said in the absence of assistance, they just formed two groups, depending on where they got stuck, locked themselves in their cars and slept in the bush.

"ZINARA is raking in billions in toll gate fees, yet there is no evidence of our money being put to good use on the roads," she said.

"Can ZINARA tell where that money is going, because it is certainly not repairing our roads. We demand better roads and greater accountability, afterall we are paying their salaries!"

Hanock George Msumba said that stretch towards Chivu from Harare is a death trap.

"You just need to travel during the day and even then you can so easily fall into those holes so I can imagine at night when you are blinded by oncoming traffic how easy it is to bend the rims," he said.

Mpairwe Allan said he guesses that Zinara is diverting the money to other programmes which do not serve the motorists who are paying for 5the roads to be done to save their vehicle and human lives.

Andre Zeitgeist Mtetwa said ZINARA is just a conduit to siphon money for the already burdened citizens they have created employment for their corrupt cabal at zero service.
