PRETORIA - Air forces from several Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries will take part in simulated humanitarian relief exercises in Limpopo from Saturday.
Colonel Petrus Motlhabane said in a statement on Friday that aircraft from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Angola would take part in the exercise. Mozambique and Zambia would contribute personnel to the drill, due to be staged from August 20 to 28 from the SA Air Force bases at Hoedspruit and Makhado.
The aim would be improving co-operation and testing and evaluating command and control systems, as well as interoperability between the various air forces.
Lieutenant Colonel Dinky Mokwebo said the main exercise would see the forces simulating the supply by air of crates and equipment to humanitarian organisations operating in difficult terrain.
