The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) is preparing to launch the World Press Freedom day book to buttress the need for the media and journalists freedoms to be ensured in Zimbabwe.
ZUJ announced through its Face Book page the development.
World Press Freedom Day is celebrated on May 3 every year across the world.
"Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) will on the 30th of April 2015 launch a booklet in Harare as a way of commemorating World Press Freedom Day that is celebrated annually on the 3rd of May," reads the post.
"The title of the booklet is "The Back story," and is a work of Zimbabwean journalists."
ZUJ indicated that the book is an initiative that was conceived out of the need to explore ways in which journalists can investigate, and also looks at risks and challenges they face pursuing this important aspect of journalism.
"Readers will gain insight into investigative journalism and discover what it takes to be an intelligent purveyor of information," ZUJ said.
"The Union's Secretary General, Foster Dongozi, commended the work done by journalists and urged them not only to write stories but also publish books for future generations. This is the normal and natural way of doing things."
ZUJ said Journalists should be in the business of not writing stories but also publish books for future generations of journalists and other readers," said Dongozi.
"The 3rd of May is a day set apart to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom, evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to tribute to journalists who have perished in the exercise of their profession," reads ZUJ post.
