Ex-Air Zimbabwe boss bail bid opposed

Jailed former Air Zimbabwe legal secretary Grace Pfumbidzayi's bail application has been vigorously opposed by the State on the grounds that she was a flight risk.

Pfumbidzayi was sentenced to an effective seven years in jail together with former Air Zimbabwe CE Peter Chikumba. Prosecutor Daniel Muchimbiri yesterday urged the court to dismiss Pfumbidzayi's application.

"The applicant stands convicted of a very serious offence and it is improper for this court to allow such people to walk on the streets," Muchimbiri said.

He also said that Pfumbidzayi is yet to be summoned to court over another fraud charge. "That would be an incentive for her to abscond," He said.
