TWO Air Force of Zimbabwe jets were yesterday involved in a minor accident, side-swiping during a flypast to honour Retired General Solomon Mujuru at his burial at the National Heroes' Acre.
Fragments fell off one of the aircraft.
Confirming the incident, Zimbabwe Defence Forces director of public relations Colonel Overson Mugwisi said no one was injured in the mishap.
He said the pilots could have been flying too close to each other.
"There was an incident at the National Heroes' Acre immediately after the flypast when the aircraft side-swiped and a few metal particles fell to the ground.
"However, the aircraft flew back and safely landed at Manyame Air Base," said Col Mugwisi.
He said the metal pieces fell to the ground adjacent to the National Sports Stadium and no one was injured.
"Both pilots are safe and were not injured," he said.
The aircraft on the left appeared to have lost course and rolled twice before the pilot appeared to regain control and guide it to a safe landing at Manyame Air Base.
