Commentators have said MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai must be respected for being the first person to defeat President Robert Mugabe in the Presidential elections as there has been no one who did so since independence in 1980.

This come after Tswvangirai received a barrage of insults from the people after his party decided to boycott the by-elections when the party had already recalled its 21 MPs leaving the seats vacant. MDC-T has been accused of donating those seats to Zanu-PF.

But a social commentator said Tsvangirai must be honoured for showing the world that Mugabe can be defeated as he did so in 2008 when he defeated him though with votes which did not qualify him to assume the helm.

Taruvinga Fuwani said people must stop attacking Tsvangirai as he still have a large following who believe s in his principles.

Peter Khumalo said those who think can do better than Tsvangirai the political field is open for them top join and there must stop complaining about the MDC-T leader.

Fuwani said Tsvangirai is the only person who lead the political grouping that  managed in the history of Zimbabwean politics to beat Mugabe in 2008 under difficult circumstance.

"No-one in Zimbabwe who can compete with Mugabe's thugs, Joshua Nkomo himself surrendered, Edgar Tekere surrendered, Dumiso Dabengwa is left with a wish to defeat Mugabe, but Tsvangirai is taking Mugabe to task each and everyday," said Fuwani.

But Cyprian Ncube mocked the remarks by Fuwani saying Tsvangirai is no more.

"He is just a gear toothless barking bulldog. Just look how many times he failed us. I think if he is really democratic he should appoint a new president of the party and start to work on some new staff hacking the party's success, cause Mugabe is not that easy.  I suggest that Tsvangirai is not the right answer to the call of freedom and liberation of Zimbabwe," said Ncube.
