ZEC in alleged electoral irregularities

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is being accused of registering voters without asking for identity documents and proof of residence which are in fact legal requirements.
ZEC, the country's elections management body, is currently registering voters in constituencies where by-elections will take place on June 10.
ZEC is being accused of violating the Electoral Act by registering voters without checking their national identity cards.
A provision in the Act compels those interested in voting to prove their identity by presenting their national identity cards or passports in addition to proof of residence to prove their legitimacy as voters in a particular constituency.
