Nine farms workers at Mliswa farm seriously assaulted by Zanu PF youths

Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP) has reported that nine farm workers at former Hurungwe West Zanu PF MP Temba Mliswa were seriously assaulted by Zanu PF youths who invaded the farm.

The organisation also posted photos of the victims of the attack.

"Nine farm workers at Spring Farm owned by former Hurungwe West MP Temba Mliswa were assaulted by by suspected Zanu PF youths who invaded the farm on May 1," reported ZPP.

"The farm workers who suffered injuries were assaulted yesterday May 2. Although police initially refused to attend to the reports they eventually recorded the cases as RRBv2401249 and RRB24001248. Cases of violence are on the rise in Hurungwe West in the run up to the by election on June 10."

Four of the attacked workers are reportedly hospitalised following the attacks. The alleged victims were identified as Patricia Nduna, Meeting Rice, Advance Choto and Chamunorwa Jongwe who arer alleged to have been assaulted with logs and electrical wires.

ZPP indicated that it is concerned that with so much violence the electorate is instilled with fear.

"ZPP therefore appeals to ZEC and other responsible authorities to ensure the protection of the rights of the electorate. More details to follow," said ZPP.
