'It's Mnangagwa who ordered soldiers not to salute Tsvangirai' claims Kasukuwere

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa ordered the uniformed forces not to salute former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai during the unity government period, ZANU PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere has disclosed.
Kasukuwere told supporters gathered at the commissioning of Masvingo Water Works that members of the security services who vowed never to salute Tsvangirai during the time of the inclusive Government were ordered to do so by Mnangagwa.
He said it was Mnangagwa who was the Minister of Defence at the time who ordered soldiers not to salute anyone with no liberation war credentials, Masvingo Mirror reported.
The order created a lot of tension for the parties in the inclusive Government as it was inconceivable that an army would fail to salute a leader who was democratically elected.
Kasukuwere heaped praise on Mnangagwa as he introduced him and described him as the trouble shooter for President Mugabe.
He said that Mugabe appointed Mnangagwa to security ministries at all the difficult times since 1980.
"In the early stages of Independence when things had not normalised, when Peter Walls was a security threat the President appointed Mnangagwa to lead security from 1980 to 1988.
"During the inclusive Government the President once again entrusted him with leading the security forces and it is during his tenure that he instructed soldiers not to salute some nobodies we were working with," said Kasukuwere
