A Braedside man in Harare swallowed 22 grammes of cannabis (mbanje) in a bid to conceal evidence and had a nerve to ask a magistrate to have a puff before being remanded in custody.
Taurai Chimusoro told the court that he is addicted to mbanje to the extent that he was kicked out of his lodgings.
"I was even chased away from where I used to stay because of that issue of smoking cannabis,' said Chimisoro when he appeared before Mbare magistrate Precious Muzondo.
Chimusoro asked the magistrate top allow him to puff one more time when he was remanded in custody.
However, the magistrate denied him that opportunity.
The court heard that on May 6 around 6pm, Chimusoro was brought to the police station facing charges of possessing the illegal drug.
Five joints of dagga weighing 22 grammes were found in his pockets.
