A SAKUBVA man in Mutare bashed his ex-wife while she was at her parents' residence accusing her of being a prostitute.
Tawanda Ditima (27) of 165 Magrecous Sakubva pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Mutare magistrate Annie Ndiraya.
The court heard through Douglas Matiure, the prosecutor that on 26 April, Ditima followed his ex-wife to her parents in Zororo, Sakubva.
"When he arrived at his in-laws house, he saw his ex-wife, Tracemore Mbizi (24) in the company of another man and he started to accuse her of being a prostitute.
"Mbizi told Ditima to stay away from her and this did not go well with him. He slapped her on the face several times and she sustained a swollen face," said Matiure.
According to Manica Post, in his defence, Ditima maintained that Mbizi was still his wife and that is why he had assaulted her.
"She is still my wife Your Worship and I caught her with another man at her parent's house. I only slapped her once and her brothers attacked me and assaulted me. I can hardly walk because of the assault," said Ditima.
Ndiraya warned Ditima that he should desist from the habit of assaulting people.
She fined him $50 or the option of 10 days in prison.
