Political commentators have said there is a lot of confusion in the political parties embroiled in power wrangles as to how they should resolve the economic crisis rocking them country.

Alois Matongo said a serious national ailment has been slowly consuming the body politic of our country.

"Cluelessness is the new disease that is devouring the capacity of our political leaders on both sides of the divide to solve the crises that the country is facing," said Matongo.

"On the Zanu-PF side the ZIMASSET pie in the sky cannot be reached and so will the over 2 million jobs promised in 2013. Why? Because the government is illegitimate, having rigged its way into power. Such government cannot generate enough confidence in potential investors to inject their capital in the economy."

He said the ruling party has resorted to witch-hunting and factional fighting within its ranks that are driving more and more investors away from the country.

"On the opposition side cluelessness in the leadership seems to be also reigning high. They correctly identified the illegitimacy of the government as the cause of the crises we face," said Matongo.

"But they seem clueless as to how to deal with that. In fact they seem to have abandoned the illegitimacy problem as they continue to cooperate with the regime in such institutions as Parliament and local government councils. In Parliament they recently voted with Zanu-PF MPs in the RBZ Debt Assumption Bill that will see over $1.3 billion debt created by the Zanu-PF chefs transferred to the taxpayers."

He said they knew they did not have the numbers but went on to vote and lose. "Now they are complaining that some of the beneficiaries of the RBZ loans voted and are threatening to go to court for recourse," said Matongo.

"But they know the courts belong to the illegitimate regime and the outcome is fait accompli. Now we hear a lot about realignment of the old laws to the new constitution with financial assistance from the EU. But how can we honestly trust a government that has repeatedly stolen elections to craft laws that will prevent it from stealing again?"

He questioned as to whether it was  not just as good as asking  hardcore thieves to design laws to prevent them from thieving?

"After all they have enough numbers in Parliament to even change that constitution before alignment," said Matongo.

"An illegitimate government especially ours that has intimidated, tortured and killed voters and more recently rigged elections is only fit for jail and not for the opposition to cooperate with. The opposition seems clueless as to how to get this regime out of power and they are being driven by the EU funding of the so called realignment of old laws to the new constitution."

Matongo said a clueless Government and a seemingly clueless Opposition is a recipe for hopelessness for the poor and suffering Zimbabweans.
