Jealous man destroys own car over wife's 'infidelity'

A 40 year old Gweru man who could not stomach his wife infidelity went berserk and smashed his vehicle's windows, destroying its battery before attempting to set it on fire.

That was after Godfrey Karonga caught his wife - Agnes Julius  with an alleged lover.

The court hear that Karonga arrived home drunk and accused his wife of not loving him anymore before packing his clothes and went outside the house.

Julius followed her hubby but she got hit once on the head before  Karonga stoned his car.

He then went into the house, took a box of matches with the aim of setting the car on fire.

But he was restrained by his landlord, the court heard.

Julius crime, according to B-Metro was to talk with a male adult who had borrowed a spare wheel and that was evidence enough for Karonga to suspect an affair.

In court, Karonga pleaded guilty to domestic violence and slapped with 12 months in jail of which 6 months were suspended for five year.

 The remainder will be spent on 210 hours of community service.

In his defence she said he only heard a rumour through a friend  that Julius  was having an extra marital affair.
