Zimbabwe receives digitalisation transmitters from Huawei

The local broadcasting signal carrier, Transmedia has received six television transmitters from Chinese firm, Huawei to be used in the ongoing digitalisation process.
Transmedia CEO, Mrs Florence Sigudu-Matambo said the $3 million transmitters will cover six of the 24 current transmitter sites.
"Under the digitalisation programme, 12 other transmitters will be acquired to cater for existing sites and new ones which are Kotwa, Hwange, Binga, Mapisa, Kariba and Chikombedzi. Zimbabweans must appreciate the work being done in digitalising the state broadcaster, ZBC as developed nations took years to undertake the process," he said.
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has set June 17 as the deadline for the migration of all analogue television transmissions to digital platforms.
