A University of Zimbabwe Political Science and Government student- Brian Mugabe forged an identity card so that he could gain entry to an exam room.
Mugabe aged 26 said he could not tell her parents that he needed more tuition money as he had failed other modules.
Therefore, his option was to forge an ID but an alert security guard spoiled his plan.
Mugabe now risk spending two months in jail if he failed to pay $100 fine.
In court Mugabe said "Though I get tuition fees from my parents, I could not tell them I needed more money because I had outstanding modules.
"So I had no money to pay to write my exams."
Mugabe's outstanding fees were $260.
The court heard that on May 19, Mugabe was lining up with other students to get into the exam hall.
The security guard, Moffat Makuvastine started verifying Mugabe's ID and became suspicious.
Upon closer examination, he realised that it was made of paper and not of plastic and the colour code differed from the originals.
