MDC Renewal Youth Assembly has condemned the recent spate of violence rocking the party.

This comes in the wake of interim Treasury General Elton Mangoma being assaulted over his alleged love affair.

They said Mangoma should not politicise purely social issues with regards to him being figured in a sex affair.

 Below is the full statement

Harare Youth Assembly Statement On Violence

The MDC Renewal Harare Youth Assembly outrightly condemns the recent spate of violence which rocked the party on 26 May 2015. As Renewal violence is an anathema to us and as young people we look forward to a swift and just conclusion to the matter.

We also wish to state categorically clear that Renewal does not have any camps or factions as we are all united by the same ideas. Therefore we are concerned about the recent utterances (Newsday, 28 May 2015) by Treasurer General; Elton Mangoma; to the effect that they are factions in the organization. We urge the Treasurer General not to politicise purely social issues with regards to him being figured in a sex affair with a member of the provincial executive's (Believe Tevera) wife. This is purely a social issue and must be resolved as such and should never be translated as a political issue because it is not.

Meanwhile we are concerned with the continued failure by the government to create decent jobs for young people. We further condemn the introduction of grade 7 examination fees as well the hiking of the same for O and A Level examinations at a time when the majority of the people live below the poverty datum line and the cost of living continues to rise. Indeed it is for a time such as this that we must show the courage to be different.

Dumisani Makwanya

Harare Province Youth Chairperson
