A Harare boy who reportedly suffered serious abdominal pains was allegedly operated and operation wound allegedly closed using staples.

This was revealed by Cyril Zenda who claimed the child was his son and when he discovered the manner in which his son's wound was closed he was shocked.

"Just been from this specialist surgeon in Harare where my teenage son. I am also a father by the way. I was having staples (yes staples!) removed," he said.

"The story is like this. A few weeks ago, the boy started complaining of severe abdominal pains... was rushed to hospital where he was operated on (hernia, appendix, blah, blah)... and he was in hospital for about a week, after which he was discharged."

He said days later, the bandage covering the wound fell off.

"I was horrified to notice that staples were actually used to patch the opening together. I phoned the doctor and he just laughed off at what I thought was a very serious matter," he said.

"So today I was stunned when he almost effortlessly removed the staples and the boy is fine (infact he has been going to school with his staples and looks like he will certainly miss these badges of courage that were surely making him a celebrity of some sort). When the staples were removed, the doctor rubbed something reddish on the wound and ordered that the boy skips bathing for a week... I have never seen him half that happy... those of you who were once teenage boys know what this means, especially in this cold season."
