Mugabe returns home

The AU chairperson President Robert Mugabe has returned home Tuesday evening after witnessing the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Omar al Bashir of Sudan.

President Mugabe's trip included a consultative working visit to Equatorial Guinea where he held talks with President Teodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

Upon arrival, he was met at the Harare International Airport by the two Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko and several government ministers.

In Sudan, President Mugabe, who is also SADC chairperson, is the only leader who was personally welcomed by his counterpart at the airport and the Sudanese National Assembly gave him a round of applause when he was introduced by the Chairman of the National Council, Professor Ibrahim Umar.
