Harare Residents Trust has reported that on Thursday Chitungwiza City Council Town Clerk, George Makunde, council officials, Officer in Charge at St Mary's Police , Mr Badza and the police addressed Chitungwiza  vendors over the order to vacate the streets.

"In Chigovanyika they have addressed vendors at the flea market and those selling tomatoes that they should stop operating in undesignated areas," reported the Trust.

"The Town Clerk has informed vendors that the council is removing a lorry company operating at a car park at Chigovanyika."

The Trust said the council has ordered the lorries to be removed with immediate effect and the space to be used by vendors.

"The council also gave vendors a structure at Chigovanyika that is being used by residents as a shebeen but it is now going to be occupied by vendors," said the Trust.

The developments came after the government issued an ultimatum that vendors conducting business on the streets illegal in all towns should have vacated by next week.
