Harare council target Zengeza terminus vendors

Harare City Council has reportedly met the vendors trading at Zengeza terminus advising them that they will be move with those selling tomatoes and vegetables being allocated a place to trade and those selling other wares allocated their place as a way of upholding hygiene.

Harare Residents Trust reported that the council officials addressed vendors in Zengeza 2 who have occupied the bus terminus and build illegal structures.

"The council has ordered that it wants to maintain order as vendors have been operating at one area those selling tomatoes, cell phones, flea market, gas, repairing tyres amongst others," reported the Trust. "The council advised vendors that the market for vegetables should operate at its own area to maintain hygiene. Those who have built structures in the bus terminus have been advised to come with their papers to the council so that they can be located at areas were they operate legally."

The developments come after Local Government Public Works and National Housing Minister Ignatius Chombo issued an ultimatum ordering vendors operating in the cities illegal to vacate.
