Harare West MP source copies of constitution for the constituency

Harare West MP Jessie Majome has sourced 100 copies of the new constitution for her constituency out of the 2000 copies that she had asked for from the Ministry of Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs

"Finally after months trying to get an allocation of Constitutions for Harare West I have collected them. I was allotted only 100 copies out the 2000 copies I requested from the Ministry of Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs<' said Majome.

"I had requested 2000 copies to distribute to schools, churches, businesses and other organisations in Harare West in my continuous efforts to promote awareness of the Constitution as required in Section 7. 100 copies are too few to share but I will do my level best to equitably share them in Harare West constituency. The Government said does not have many copies of the Constitution to spare to me, as it prioritising distribution to other provinces in the Ministry's outreach programme."

  She said though the new rectangular flag frame now on the Constitution copies cover(the Constitution on the right in photo) raised her eyebrows high as it brings to mind the ZANU PF flag.

"In case you rush to accuse me of 'seeing things' you may be interested to know that many Harare Westerners expressed the same discomfort with the abridged Constitution versions that I was distributing at my 20 December 2014 free legal aid clinic at Westgate Mall outside Pick 'n' Pay," she said.

"The Constitution turned 2 years old on 22 May and has not been fully implemented. The ZANU PF overwhelming majority government has threatened instead to amend it already before we have tasted it. There is I suspect a deliberate shortage of copies the supreme law of the land. The government hasn't bothered, two years on, to make the Constitution available in all the 16 officially recognised languages as per sections 6 and 7 of it ."

  She encourage all Harare Westerners to buy Constitution and Acts of Parliament copies from Printflow/ Gvt. Printers in Jason Moyo Ave. Btn. 3rd and 4th Street .
