Chief Chanetsa lost a whopping $29 000 moments after he had withdrawn the cash when a gang of thieves pounced on him on his car at a Msasa food court in Harare.

The six suspects Busani Dhlamini (40), Ephraim Muskwe (41), Tineyi Chigondo (31), Costa Ngwenya (35), Thandazani Dube (35) and Soames Ndhlovu (28)  appeared in court Tuesday and  all denied bail by Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe.

According to reports, June 1 this year Chief Chanetsa, whose real name is Adam Katsvere, was in the company of his wife and son in Harare when he withdrew $30 000 from Stanbic Bank in Belgravia.

The court heard that the money was meant for his employees' wages, settlement for his tractor's instalments and other general activities at his Karoi farm.

It is alleged that from the $30 000, the chief took $1 000 and placed it in his pocket whilst the remainder was placed in a glove compartment in the car.

It is alleged that Chief Chanetsa drove to Msasa where he parked at a food court intending to buy food.

He locked his car, but Dhlamini and Muskwe allegedly forced open the chief's car and stole the $29 000.

The group attempted to flee in its getaway car but witnesses managed to block them with a Honda Ballad.

The getaway car rammed the Honda Ballad. The witnesses took the suspects to the police.

All the money was recovered.
