The Movement for Democratic Change led by Morgan Tsvangirai today was distributing flyers discouraging people from voting.
In Highfield the MDC-T distributed flyers urging people not to vote. Some were thrown near Highfield polling stations overnight.
The MDC leader, Tsvangirai urged his supporters to spoil their ballot papers. He had been on a "No Reforms, No Election" campaign.
Zanu-PF political commissar Kasukuwere blasted the MDC-T for throwing out flyers discouraging people from voting. He said: "That is barbarism at the worst. I don't understand what a political leader seeks to achieve by denying people their right to vote. That is madness on the part of the MDC and their pathetic leadership"
Zimbabwe voted Wednesday in parliamentary by-elections expected to strengthen the dominance of President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party after the main opposition boycotted the ballot.
The elections were held to fill 16 seats after the opposition party Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) fired 14 lawmakers who formed a splinter party, and two other MPs were expelled from Zanu-PF for being aligned with former vice-president Joice Mujuru.
