Parliament today expelled three legislators from the House of Assembly after Zanu-PF notified the Speaker that the party had recalled Ray Kaukonde, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and David Butau.

Acting Speaker of the House of Assembly Ms Melody Dziva made the announcement this afternoon and Mr Bhasikiti who was the only one amongst the trio present in the House immediately walked out.

In her announcement Ms Chidziva said she had received a court application from Messrs Bhasikiti and Butau seeking to interdict the declaration of their seats vacant.

She said the Speaker could not be stopped from exercising her constitutional duty on a basis of a mere court application. Ms Dziva said notification to parliament by the party concerned was all that was required to satisfy the requirements of the law before declaring the seat vacant.

Kudakwashe Bhasikiti

Ray Kaukonde was MP for Marondera Central while Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and David Butau represented Mwenezi East and Mbire respectively.
