The High Court yesterday granted ousted Zanu-PF Harare province youth league chairperson Godwin Gomwe $1000 bail coupled with stringent conditions on the extortion charges he is facing.
However, his freedom was short lived as the police rearrested him soon after his release from remand prison. Gomwe is now facing fresh charges of assault and contravening the Telecommunications Act.
Meanwhile, Gomwe and his gang have been ordered off of a piece of land they had invaded in Harare's Westlea suburb. Bradha Engineering Private Limited owns the 25-hactare piece of land, which was allocated to it by the Harare City Council.
High Court judge Justice November Mtshiya granted the urgent application for spoliation filed by Mr Tapson Dzvetero on behalf by Bradha Engineering Pvt Ltd, which accused Gomwe of invading its property.
