Harare faces increase in domestic violence - HRT

The Harare Residents Trust has claimed that it has received an increase number of domestic violence case happening among family member in the capital city over inheritance.

The Trust said as a result it is embarked in the awareness campaigned to educate residents over the ills of such fights which some of them become deadly.

"The HRT daily receives at least fifteen cases involving families fighting over honorship of properties and inheritance," said the Trust.

"This is a serious cause for concern as children the elderly and particularly widows have suffered most. In partnership with inheritance experts the HRT is teaching residents to take appropriate measures to safeguard their properties."

The most casulities in the inheritance fights have been discovered to be the wives and children in most cases.
