A 23-YEAR-OLD Chitungwiza woman, who fatally stabbed her husband in a domestic dispute over infidelity, yesterday appeared in court facing charges of culpable homicide.

According to the Newsday, Florence Shariwa, of Unit P in Seke, Chitungwiza, allegedly killed her 32-year-old husband Darlington Fereti sometime in October last year.

Shariwa appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Estere Chivasa, who remanded her to Thursday next week for judgment.

According to the State's case, on October 9 last year, Shariwa and Fereti fought over text messages that were being sent on Fereti's phone by an unidentified woman who was purporting to be his girlfriend. Prosecutor Lovet Muringwa told the court that following the dispute, the late Fereti locked the door and put the keys into his trouser's pocket which provoked a fist-fight with his wife.

It is alleged that Shariwa drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Fereti once in the chest as he tried to follow her when the door was eventually opened from outside by Justice Mutsikambesa.

Fereti is said to have died on the spot. In her defence, Shariwa said she was not guilty of the charge, arguing she never negligently caused her husband's death. She said instead, it was Fereti who physically attacked her, threatening to cause serious harm or even kill her, which scared her.
