Zimbabwe's Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has called for companies, organizations and government departments linked to the tourism industry to put in place measures which improve efficiency in order to facilitate the growth of the sector.
The call comes in the wake of complaints by some tourists who say that they are facing delays at the country's border posts with Victoria Falls sighted as the major problem.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Walter Mzembi called upon tourism enabler organizations to support the tourism product and its expectations now that the country has seen an upsurge in tourist arrivals with hotel occupancy rates rising to as high as 60% in some provinces.
The Problems that Air Zimbabwe is facing has not helped matters as destination accessibility is an integral part of tourism.
Connectivity through a good ICT system and a good VISA card regime were sighted as enablers that need to be put in place to maintain tourism growth and aid the sector in reaching the projected 15% to the Gross Domestic product.
