EMMA Marongwe, wife of Zimbabwe's ambassador to Kuwait, Mark Marongwe, popularly known by his Chimurenga name Grey Tichatonga, has died following a four-year battle with breast cancer. Emma was the late former Mabvuku MP Pamela Christine Tungamirai's younger sister.

Marongwe's daughter Gugulethu Mary Ann Tichatonga Marongwe confirmed the sad news on her Facebook wall on Sunday.

"It's with a heavy broken heart and red swollen eyes that I announce the passing away of my mom yesterday (Saturday)," she said, adding her mother had been battling breast cancer for the last four years.

Mrs Marongwe was born in 1960 and attended Monte Casino Girls High School for her Ordinary Levels after which she joined the Department of Statistics in 1978 and worked as a clerk.

She served in that capacity for 12 years before taking an unpaid leave and joined her husband at the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Washington D.C. in 1990.

At the time of her death, Mrs Marongwe was running her own accounting consultancy firm.

She is survived by her husband Ambassador Marongwe and two children.

Mrs Marongwe will be buried at Chiwetu Village in Rusape tomorrow
