VICE President John Nkomo returned home on Saturday from South Africa where he under-went what his family described as a regular medical check-up.
The Standard newspaper reports that Nkomo arrived at back 1.05pm aboard a South African Airways flight, a week after going to South Africa, where he is reportedly being treated for cancer.
Other passengers on the plane said Nkomo was still frail although in much better nick than when he last appeared in public at the burial of the late former army commander General Solomon Mujuru.
Government officials an Nkomo's family moved to quash widespread speculation last Friday that Nkomo had died at a clinic in South Africa.
Nkomo's son, Jabulani, said his father has been going to South Africa for scheduled chck-ups but was now recovering from his illness.
"He has been going there for the past three or four years and this was a scheduled visit as he had gone for review," he said.
"Even if he is ill, instead of wishing him well or to recover, the media is now busy spreading baseless rumours."
Nkomo was reportedly flown to South Africa after his condition deteriorated following General Mujuru's funeral.
Local media claimed the Vice President was visibly unwell during the funeral and had to walk with the help of a walking stick, supported by two aides.
