Bhasikiti engages Biti to stop Mugabe

Ousted Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister and legislator for Mwenezi East constituency, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti Chuma has approached the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis seeking to stop President Robert Mugabe from calling for by-elections in Mwenezi East.

Bhasikiti was ejected from parliament last week following his expulsion from the ruling party.

His latest application follows hot on the heels of two other applications in which he sought to bar the Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda from declaring his seat vacant.

Bhasikiti is represented by Tendai Biti and contends that he did not receive formal communication on the decision to expel him from the party.

He further adds that due process was not followed when he was expelled from Zanu-PF in violation of his constitutional rights and as expected in terms of the party constitution.
