Form Three boy wins Child Presidency

A form three boy, Samuel Nyarenda from Mazowe High school in Mashonaland Central province was declared the winner for the child president after gaining 48 votes beating the other nine in a contested poll conducted by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Z.E.C) on Wednesday night.

Zimbabwe Youth Council reported the post of Vice President and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs was won by Tatenda Maramba from Masvingo province who polled 29 votes while Otis Mashayamombe from Manicaland got 28 votes for the post of Vice President and Minister of National Healing and Reconciliation.

"Fungai Makuyana from Mashonaland East province was declared winner for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly after obtaining 33 votes while Tinayeishe Nyota from Harare province was elected Child President of the Senate with 23 votes," stated the youth council.

"Apart from the presidium elections, chairpersons of the following Portfolio Committees were also elected. Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment-Bukhosi Moyo (Bulawayo Province), Education, Arts, Sports and Culture- Samuel Tembo (Matabeleland North), Health and Child Care-Kudzaishe Mwanza (Mashonaland West), Public service, Labour and Social Welfare-Chengetai Sibanda (Midlands) and Women's Affairs, Gender and Community Development-Cathy Zingani (Matabeleland South)."
