The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Chairperson Rita Makarau has been accused of corruption and bias following the election of Kieth Guzah as the Hurungwe West MP while he was not a registered voter in the same constituency.
Political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya said Makarau was once in 1997 a Zanu PF MP ad now through allowing an unregistered voter in the constituency.
"Rita Makarau the former ZANU PF MP (1997, non-constituency) and now ZEC chairperson has now shown her true colors through duplicity and complicity in the irregular election of Keith Guzha in the Hurungwe West by-election. Without shame," said Ruhanya.
The development has touched a storm in the country with opposition political parties positing that their claim that there is need for reform before elections have proved to be true and reliable.
Guzah defeated former MP of the constituency Temba Mliswa in the suspected flawed polls.
