The visit by two American government officials last week is part of a flurry of such deputations to the country over the past few months as the Obama administration ups its spy missions ahead of a review of Washington's sanctions on Harare.

It has emerged that the delegations made arrangements to meet with political opposition and civic organisations officials but did not include Government or Zanu-PF representatives.

The team only made last minute moves for audience with government and ruling party officials when it became apparent that not doing so will expose their agenda.

Meanwhile, the Sundaymail reported that the African Union's political leadership is not scheduled to meet US president Obama when he visits Ethiopia and Kenya later this month as his engagements with the two countries are of bilateral nature.

Last week it was said the US president has snubbed the AU leadership which is currently headed by President Mugabe.
