Political Analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya has said the removal of vendors from the streets by government is not a solution to the problems bedevilling the country but the government has to resolve the root cause of their crowding in the streets first

"Removing vendors in the central business district is not the solution to the monumental informalisation of the economy," said Ruhanya.

"We should analytically address the reasons why vendors have been flocking into the city centre over the past 15 years."

Ruhanya said the main reasons is that the the old is dying and the new cannot be born and in this interregnum morbid symptoms appear.

"Perhaps we need an urgent overhaul of the current regime and focus on transforming the decomposing and corrupted political economy of the State under Zanu PF," he said.

On Wednesday government displaced many vendors in Harare prompting them to launch a protest march in which they threatened to meet with the Zanu PF government in the 2018 elections.

Earnest Nyamukachi said perhaps there is a need of an urgent overhaul of the current regime and focus on transforming the decomposing and corrupted political economy of the State under Zanu PF.
