OUSTED former vice president Joice Mujuru will not be attending a prayer meeting to be held Saturday in honour of democracy activist Itai Dzamara who was abducted by suspected state agents four months ago.
According to the organiser of the event Partson Dzamara who is also Itai's brother, Mujuru had confirmed her attendance, however, former Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said the ousted vice president will be "engaged elsewhere".
"She will not be attending, I have talked to her," Gumbo said adding Mujuru will "be busy with something else" without elaborating.
Mujuru has hardly been seen in public since her unceremonious ousting from government.
It is four months since Dzamara was abducted movie-style outside his home in Glen View by unidentified armed men.
Dzamara's younger brother Patson said police had been notified of the event.
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn's Simba Makoni, Lovemore Madhuku of the NCA, Zapu leader Dumiso Dabengwa and People First officials were said to have confirmed participation.
