Woman thoroughly beaten for not cooking sadza

A Harare woman, Chenai Ruzangwe was thoroughly assaulted by her hubby for not cooking sadza for supper.

Ruzangwe was slapped on the face and beaten with a log on her head and fell unconscious by Tendai Ndingune, H-Metro reported.

"He is abusive and jealous, he does not allow me to talk to other people or have friends," she told the court.

"Whenever he sees me with another man he accuses me of cheating on him.

"He came home from a drinking spree and found that I had not prepared sadza for the children since the stove had run out of paraffin. He slapped me and told me that I was a woman of no value."

In response Tendai denied the assault claims.

"She is an irresponsible woman, I always give her money so that she buys all the basics. She uses the money for other things. She is always insulting me and at the end we fight."

Magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza granted Ruzangwe a protection order.
