At the Politburo yesterday, President Robert Mugabe openly admitted that Zanu-PF has been dogged by infighting and succession wars.

In his opening address, Mugabe called for unity, loyalty, harmony and ideological clarity on the part of the senior leadership of the party.

Mugabe also condemned some sections of the Zimbabwean media that are peddling the agenda of the opposition, causing divisions in the ruling party.

According to Ignatius Chombo, the Zanu-PF secretary for administration, Mugabe implored the need for the party's senior leadership to unite and concentrate on fixing the economy.

Chombo also said that Mugabe is confident that the party leadership had the capacity to deliver on the aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe.

Chombo blamed the media for fanning the infighting in Zanu-PF.
