Kasukuwere warns corrupt councilors, land barons

Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere yesterday vowed to root out corruption in local authorities and within Zanu-PF where he is the national commissar.

Kasukuwere told mayors and council managers from all local authorities in the country at a meeting in Harare that officials who defrauded people in the name of Zanu-PF and government especially with regards to housing stands would not be protected.

Kasukuwere said he was still looking into the issue of suspended Harare town clerk Tendai Mahachi, adding he would soon get a full briefing from mayor Bernard Manyenyeni.

He said the government would make steps to decongest the city centre by bringing in metro busses and phase out kombis.
