Tendai Blessing Mangwiro has threatened to institute contempt of court charges against Home Affairs minister Ignatius Chombo and Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri for defying a court order compelling them to reimburse $78 000 which was seized from him by police in 2008.

According to the Newsday, Mangwiro then approached the High Court after the police failed to release the money.

In February this year, High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa ruled in his favour and ordered police to reimburse the money without further delay.

Chihuri's efforts to have Justice Musakwa's ruling rescinded hit a brick wall last month after it was dismissed for want of prosecution.
