Vehicles belonging to the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) have been attached by the Sheriff of Zimbabwe in a labour dispute involving close to half a million dollars.
The MDC-T party represented by Morgan Tsvangirai in his capacity as the president of the party, owes 13 employees varying amounts of money ranging from US$38000 to US$48000.
The sheriff and his officers arrived at Number 49 and 51 Kew Drive in Highlands, Morgan Tsvangirai's house in the morning and attached some vehicles before proceeding to Harvest House where 10 more vehicles were attached.
Justice Priscilla Chigumba ordered that Tsvangirai must pay a five percent interest on the varying amounts awarded to the employees and further meet the legal costs incurred by the applicants.
'The writ of execution is against both movable and immovable property and the sheriff has been directed to attach Tsvangirai's house in Strathaven and other pieces of land in Goromonzi and Seke belonging to the respondent.
In 2013, the 13 employees were reinstated with full benefits with effect from 30 August 2010 when their contracts were terminated.
Since 2013, Tsvangirai and his party have failed to honour the award.
The MDC-T leader rose from the labour movement where he was secretary general of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions.
