Man accuses wife of being a prostitute, ruptures her eye

A 38 year old man from Chivi, Dererai Mheredza, has been jailed for four years after he ruptured his wife's eye whom he accused of being a prostitute.
Mheredza of Tawanda Village under Headman Madzivire in Chivi appeared at Chivi Magistrate courts before Magistrate Bishard Chineka facing a charge of domestic violence. One year of the sentence was suspended for five years on condition of good behavior.
According to Masvingo Mirror, the court heard that on June 11, 2015 at around 11pm, Mheredza arrived home from a beer drink as usual and started accusing Ketina Macheka (35) of being a prostitute.
Mheredza assaulted Macheka using a hand drill twice on the right eye and several times all over the body and Macheka sustained some injuries.
Macheka was sent to hospital for medical examination and the doctor established that she sustained facial bruises, right upper eye lid laceration and right globe rupture.
Mheredza pleaded guilty to the charge
